Privacy policy

This covers Chitemere's sites and apps: CTRL, RUTE, Amari, TROOPER, Signal Scout, Wayfarer, PN Key, and the Chitemere stores. We collect only what is needed to run your account, and we do not sell it.

1. What we collect

When you create an account we keep your email address, your name if you give one, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash). If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else. We never see your Google password.

While you use a product we keep what it needs to work: for example the devices and connection history in CTRL, your content in Amari, or your orders in a store. If you pay for RUTE Work with EcoCash or OneMoney, we keep that number so next month's PIN prompt can be sent to it; turn renewing off in RUTE Work and no prompt is sent. If you share a RUTE space, anyone with its link or code sees what is in it (its tasks with their notes and steps) and the name you choose to show, until you stop sharing it. When you follow one, we keep a random number for your phone, with no name or account, to count followers and, from RUTE 0.12.0, a notification token so the sharer’s changes and notes reach you; a phone that stops checking for three months is removed. PN Key needs no account: the audio you upload is processed on our server and deleted within an hour, and what you post on its feedback board (a name if you give one, and your message) is public. Basic technical logs (time, error messages, rough device type) help us fix faults.

2. How we use it

To sign you in, run the product you signed up to, send the emails you ask for (confirmation codes, receipts, password resets), keep the service secure and answer your messages. We do not use your Google data for advertising.

3. Who else sees it

Only the services that run the products for us: our database and sign-in provider (Supabase), hosting (Vercel), email delivery (Resend) and, for CTRL connections that cannot go direct, a relay (Cloudflare). They handle it only on our behalf. We share information if the law requires it.

4. Cookies

The only cookies on our sites keep you signed in, so you stay signed in between pages. Remove them and you are simply signed out. There are no advertising cookies, and nothing on our sites follows you onto other websites.

Visits are counted without cookies: the page, where you came from and a rough location, never tied to your account. Choose No statistics on the cookie notice and this browser stops being counted.

Some preferences, such as light or dark theme and your answer to the cookie notice, are kept in your own browser and never sent to us.

5. How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is deleted with it, apart from records we must keep by law.

6. Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time, and where an app has a Delete account button you can do it yourself. Otherwise email hello@chitemere.co.zw and we will act within a reasonable time. You can also remove Chitemere's access from your Google account settings at any time.

7. Children

Amari is open to people of any age. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to agree before signing up, and confirms that they do when creating the account. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time, at hello@chitemere.co.zw, to see or delete their child’s information, and we will do it.

The Chitemere stores are meant for adults, and alcohol is sold only to people aged 18 or over.

8. Changes and contact

If this policy changes we will update the date above. Questions: hello@chitemere.co.zw.
